The midterm elections are less than two weeks away. History is militating against Republicans. Historically, the Party that holds the White House loses Congressional seats in the midterms. As Republicans hold the House of Representatives by a margin of a couple of seats, many pollsters presume that the Democrats will be running the House next year. In order to win the Senate, Democrats need to flip four seats. That is a bigger ask.
If we listen to most of the pollsters, we might conclude that Republicans have no chance this year. They tell us that Trump is unpopular, and it’s true, his approval numbers are down somewhat from where they were. They keep giving us updates about the Generic Congressional ballot, which asks the question, which Party are you planning to vote for this year.
Democrat hacks like Nat Silver tell us that Democrats have a more than 8% lead in the generic ballot. Recent polling from more credible sources put the Democrat lead at 2%, which would put Republicans in a much more favorable position, as even when Republicans do well, the Democrats usually lead by 4 or 5 %.
It’s nonetheless true that Republicans in general and Trump in particular aren’t as popular as they were two years ago. The lap dog media will tell us that constantly, but you also must listen to what they’re not saying. The unspoken truth is that Democrats are even less popular than Republicans.
Voters are justifiably fed up with government in general. There are more elected Republicans now than Democrats, so it stands to reason that they will be absorbing more of that backlash. However, the dissatisfaction is based more on reflex than on facts. And for this, we may blame the media, that spends 24 hours each day bashing Trump and all Republicans, and covering up for Democrat failures.
The famous advice from James Carville that got Bill Clinton elected was “It’s the economy stupid.” Some pundits are still trying to sell that line to help Democrats in 2026, but is it still good advice? One of the time honored Democrat talking points is the claim that “Republicans have given us the worst economy since the Great Depression.”
That claim has served them well. The problem is that, this time, it just doesn’t wash. The talking point is that today’s economy sucks because the Republicans are running it. Their solution is simple, reelect Democrats, and the truth be damned.
They can get away with this because the media swears to whatever lies the Democrats decide to tell. The Democrats, you might recall, are the people who gave us Joe Biden. Biden gave us an inflation rate of more than 9%. Inflation increased more than 20% during his term. In other words, they created the affordability problem that they’re now complaining about.
Under Biden, wages were down, taxes were higher, crime was rampant, the borders were erased, admitting millions of criminal illegal aliens, and gasoline prices were higher than they are now, when we’re dealing with two wars.
Under Trump, taxes are down. Every Democrat voted against reducing your taxes. The median household income has reached an all-time high. Crime rates are at historic lows. Economic growth, which was under 2% under Democrats, is over 4% today. The Democrat/Media message? Democrats good- Trump bad.
The economy aside, Democrats, the shameless hypocrites who constantly preach to us about threats to democracy, are themselves the biggest threats to our constitutional form of government. How can I tell? It’s easy. Just listen to what they are saying.
In addition to voting against the tax cuts, Democrats want to increase your taxes by $5 trillion. They talk about Medicare for All, which means that health insurance plan your employer or your union got for you will be cancelled, and Bernie Sanders and Rahm Emmanuel’s brother, who’s a doctor who rewrote the Hippocratic oath to elevate social interests over individual healthcare decisions will be deciding what treatment you can get. Translation – if illegal aliens need medical care, they’ll get it, and you won’t.
Democrats also have promised, if they win they will destroy the Supreme Court by adding 4 0r 6 radical Justices. They will make Puerto Rico and D.C. States, to add 4 more Democrat Senators. They will do away with the Electoral College vote. They want to eliminate the Senate because it gives too much power to smaller States. Simply put, they oppose all the institutions that were created to make the United States a possibility, they oppose our Constitution, and our way of life.
If that’s not enough to open your eyes, consider this. After destroying our system of government, they plan to get personal. Just listen to what they’re telling us. Democrat Michigan Senator Elissa Slotkin was one of those lying Democrats, like Spanberger and Mikey Sherrill, who were elected by claiming to be moderates.
How moderate is Slotkin? Well, she votes 100% of the time with Bernie Sanders, Massachusetts’ Pocahontas, and New Jersey’s Spartacus Booker. But it’s worse. Now Slotkin has said the formerly silent part out loud. This week she said what she and other Democrats plan to do if they win is to accelerate lawfare against any individual who dares to work for Trump or Republicans.
She calls this “deterrence.” Now, as a lawyer, I can tell you that we prosecute criminals in order to deter others from breaking the law by showing them that criminal conduct has consequences. Apparently, Slotkin considers aiding and abetting any Party other than her own is, or should be, a crime. She says she will target young people who might otherwise work for Trump. “I want them to be like, Lord, that might be buying myself a ton of problems that I don’t want, and so let me avoid participating in that.” In other words, she wants to eliminate all political dissent. You know, democracy.
Slotkin likened her proposed reign of terror to Poland’s “Iron Broom” program, which she claims “will hold accountable the people and institutions who stole billions of taxpayer dollars and weaponized the government.” That’s a lovely sentiment, but consider the source.
You may recall that it was the Democrats who already weaponized the government against Republicans, persecuting Trump and his supporters. Prosecutor Jack Smith unlawfully obtained the telephone and financial records of hundreds of thousands of people, from Congressmen to donors who gave as little as $1 to Republicans.
Slotkin pays lip service to prosecuting fraudsters who are robbing government funds, but she doesn’t mean it. She and all other Democrats in the Senate oppose getting to the bottom of healthcare and daycare frauds which are siphoning billions in government funds in Minnesota, California and elsewhere. It seems that if you end the fraud, you also end the kickbacks (I mean political contributions) the fraudsters are sending to Slotkin and her fellow Democrats.
Back to the midterms, the point is, if you are unhappy with Republicans, which I fully understand, before you and your family and friends consider replacing Republicans with Democrats, think about the consequences. Raising taxes won’t help affordability. Ending the use of fossil fuels will only make energy prices higher, not lower. And turning America over to socialists and communists is a recipe for disaster. Look before you leap.
