FRANK ON FRIDAY – Democrats Keep a Promise

Given the Democrat penchant for lying about almost everything, it’s not often that I get to say they kept a promise.  I understand why Democrats lie so much.  On the one hand, they represent a Party who’s last president was a brain-dead imbecile, who allowed millions of illegal aliens, including hundreds of thousands of violent criminals, lunatics, potential terrorists, and fraudsters into the country without any vetting, botched the withdrawal from Afghanistan, and ruined the economy, the truth is unpleasant.

Add to this, the facts that Democrats have no real policies to advance, every one of them voted against the Trump tax cuts, they’re itching to raise taxes by $5 trillion, and they’re being taken over by Communists, and speaking the truth just becomes that much more problematical.

Then of course, there’s the reality that they know they don’t have to tell the truth, because the media will swear to whatever lie they tell, and bury the truth by not reporting the facts.  Under those circumstances, they would be foolish to tell the truth.

However, today I can report that Democrats have kept a promise.  You will recall that, although they regularly outspend Republicans at least two to one, Democrats keep promising to “get the money out of politics.”  And now they’ve done it.  They’re going broke.

Reports this week are that the Democratic National Committee (DNC) has run out of money.   While the rival RNC is sitting on cash in excess of $128 million, the DNC is a few million dollars in the red – $16 million cash, and over $18 million in unpaid bills.

It’s gotten so bad that the DNC had to mortgage their headquarters building in Washington for a $15 million loan to keep themselves afloat.  They’re still spending money, have to pay staff and such, but they’ve stopped sending money to the Congressional campaign committees.  Oh, and they’re not paying paying vendors who do work for the DNC.  They’ve asked vendors not to send the bills until after the November elections.   I guess they learned that from Il Duce Obama, who stiffed contractors who built his mausoleum, excuse me, library.  That attitude is classic Democrat Party fare.  Tell the voters you’re better at handling the economy, but don’t let them find out you’re really in hock up to your eyeballs until after they vote.

Where did all the money go?  Well, the DNC had a bad time with the 2024 election.  First Sleepy Joe, and then Scamola Harris.  It seems Harris managed to blow $1 billion in 100 days, and she still left the DNC with a $15 million bill for her campaign.  As you may have noticed, Democrats are not very good at money management.  For example, in the last year, the DNC has spent about $850,000 to fund Democrat Party efforts in non-voting territories – Puerto Rico, Guam, Northern Marianas Islands, American Samoa, and the U.S. Virgin Islands.  None of these places has anything to do with the upcoming midterm elections.

And then there’s the fundraising problem.  After the 2024 debacle, many of their largest donors have stopped giving to the DNC, unhappy with “the Party’s direction.”  This is not surprising, since the Party’s direction seems to be leaning toward revolution and Communism.  I guess they found out most billionaires are not Communists.

It seems that many donors see the DNC as rudderless, off message and leaderless.  The DNC is trying to put a good face on it though.  A former DNC Director has said, “Rebuilding a party is hard — rebuilding relationships and programs take time and will require all hands on deck to meet this moment.”

All hands on deck?  What an apt analogy for the Democrats.  Maybe they can do another remake of Mutiny on the Bounty.  They could call it Mutiny on the Party, brought to you by the Democratic Socialists of America (DSA).  The only problem is the DSA isn’t sailing in the South Pacific.  It wants to sail the ship of State to Cuba, and bring its government here.  Also, they couldn’t have a Mr. Christian character.  Too religious for Democrats.  It would have to be, Mr./ Ms./They/Them Atheist.

When you think about it, after the mainstream Democrats embraced the DSA, handing wild-eyed Marxists the reins of the Party, it’s no wonder that fundraising is way down.  After all, the DSA keeps telling everybody that, when they’re in charge, everything will be free.  If they don’t have to pay for rent, or school, or health care, and they get free buses and government run grocery stores, why should they give money to politicians?  Campaigning should be free too, right?

Things are getting rather tense at the DNC these days.  DNC Chairman Ken Martin is having a hard time.  Democrats complain that Martin isn’t telling them the truth about the DNC’s financial problems.  Staffers have been required to sign non-disclosure agreements preventing them from discussing financial matters.  It’s affecting Martin’s  conduct.

DNC sources say, “He’s been super paranoid,”  “He’s super embattled, ”“He’s not in a great place at all.”   Some are worried about his recent behavior.  There’s tell of an incident in which an enraged Martin screamed at and threw a telephone at a staffer.  DNC insiders reported that he got angry and threw his phone in the direction of his aide, though it did not hit the staffer.  The incident left a small group of aides who were present shaken and resulted in a human resources inquiry.  Wouldn’t you know it?  A woosy move from a woosy Party.

The DNC is a hostile workplace?  Staffers are traumatized?  Oh, I hope they brought in psychological counselors to treat the poor snowflakes.  Boy, they’re not making Democrats like they used to.  Politics is a blood sport.  LBJ said politics isn’t war by other means, it is war.  And LBJ was not a kindly employer.  Bill Moyers said, as a boss, LBJ was a cross between Mr. Dithers and Caligula.

The DNC money troubles were compounded by a recent Supreme Court decision, that allows the national Committees to send unlimited amounts of money to candidates in competitive Congressional districts.  With control of the House turning on fewer than 20 races, this decision could give Republicans an advantage.  Democrats complain that the Court has given the GOP an unfair advantage.  This is a curious complaint as it comes from a Party that took political contributions from foreigners, and who want foreigners to be able to vote, but Democrats would stand for nothing if they didn’t stand for hypocrisy.

Ken Martin has little time to right his ship.
