The old saying is, I’ve got the name, but you play the game.  In today’s politics, what that means is that, although Democrats have spent every waking hour since the early morning hours of November 9, 2016 claiming that Donald Trump and friends colluded with Russia to get elected, the evidence demonstrates that it was Hillary Clinton, Barack Obama and the DNC that were intimately involved with Russian interests before and during the 2016 election.  This week, confirmation came that the phony Trump dossier supplied by Fusion GPS was bought and paid for by none other than the Hillary campaign, the DNC and last, but certainly least, Obama’s political slush fund, Organizing for America.  The dossier alleged all kinds of sexual depravity  and other misconduct by Trump, including Russian collusion.  Fusion paid former British spy Christopher Steele to compile the dossier, much of which reportedly was supplied by the Russian FSB (nee KGB).  The outrageous claims in the dossier were so unbelievable that even the Trump-hating mainstream media wouldn’t repeat them.  Although the media  portrayed the “Democrats paid for the dossier” story as  new information, the fact that Democrat fingerprints were all over the dossier is nothing new to anyone who has followed the musings of Frank on Friday.   On July 14, 2017, in an F on F entitled Back to the U.S.S.R., I wrote, “After Trump was nominated, Democratic financial supporters of Hillary Clinton paid Fusion for its anti-Trump research.  In the summer of 2016, GPS hired former British intelligence agent, Christopher Steele, to help their work.”  Now gentle readers, I assure you that I had no inside information on this subject.  The July column was based on public information available to anyone, presumably including professional journalists.  What I took note of in July has only been reported now because Fusion GPS lost its fight to keep its bank records out of the hands of Congressional investigators.  But for that, the Democrats would have kept lying about it, and the media would have kept swearing to their lies.  Now they can’t, so the Dems have a new meme, “It doesn’t matter who paid for the dossier.”  The “it doesn’t matter” claim is a new testament to Democrat duplicity and hypocrisy.  Follow me on this.  Remember when Donald Trump, Jr. met with the female lawyer with the Russian surname?  The 20 minute meeting, where no money changed hands, with someone who said she had negative information about Hillary, but really had none, and gave none to Trump?  Remember the Democrat response?  Donald Trump and son were accused of treason, simply for being willing to accept opposition research from a foreigner.  So now comes the announcement that Hillary, Obama and company paid more than $10 million to a law firm which hired Fusion, which hired foreign intelligence agent Steele, who gathered disinformation from Russian (foreign) intelligence sources, to compile a totally false scandal sheet on Donald Trump.  Democrats, and their media partners don’t consider this to be treason however, instead, we are told this was just good, old-fashioned opposition research.  They really have no shame.  In the F on F column entitled Dezinformatsiya on May 19, 2017, I recounted the Russian history of spreading disinformation, and attempting to influence foreign elections.  Now it seems evident that Hillary, who continues to complain that Russia influenced the 2016 election, herself paid millions of dollars for Russian disinformation that was designed to influence the 2016 election.  You can’t make this stuff up.  The FBI spent a year looking for Russian collusion.  The FBI reportedly even offered to pay more money to Christopher Steele for more false information about Trump.  It’s plausible that the FBI (Comey) used the false dossier to get wiretaps and to unmask Americans who were intercepted.  Then, Special Counsel Mueller and 17 other prosecutors labored for 5 months to prove Russian collusion.  As of October 30, they have charged Paul Manafort and his partner with financial crimes that allegedly were committed from 2006 to 2014, that is, long before Trump decided to run, and long before Manafort went to work for Trump.  A 31 count Indictment, and no Russian collusion.  Mueller did find a campaign volunteer who claimed he tried to get Trump campaign officials to meet with Russians.  The Trump campaign said “No.”  But the volunteer supposedly lied about when talked to the Russians, so they pled him to one count of, what, conspiring with Russia to fix the election?  Uh, no, lying to an FBI agent (ala Martha Stewart).  No Russian collusion by Trump.  So let’s recap.  According to Hillary, Trump conspired with Russia, Russia stole and released truthful information about Hillary from her emails, that’s why Trump won, and that’s why Trump is guilty of treason.  On the other hand, Hillary paid over $9 million to lawyer Mark Elias, then Elias hired Fusion, and Fusion paid for false information on Trump concocted by Russian intelligence, then she spread the Russian lies around hoping to damage Trump and win the election, and she’s the victim.  Simply put, Hillary paid Russians to do what they would have done for nothing, spread disinformation to destabilize the U.S.  And, oh, let me add, nobody from the Hillary campaign can seem to remember who paid the $10 million for the dossier, and previously Mark Elias swore to the New York Times that he and Hillary had nothing to do with it.  Robert Mueller may be closing in on the real Russian collusion, however.  After the Manafort Indictment, Democrat lobbyist Tony Podesta, brother of Hillary campaign manager John Podesta, unexpectedly resigned from his company, a move that many interpreted as his expectation of impending criminal charges.  Once again, readers of this column shouldn’t be surprised.  On May 5, 2017, in the column entitled New Democrats Part II – The Red Menace,
I wrote this, “But, wait, this just in – in 2016, a U.S. lobbyist took $170,000 from Russian bankers to end U.S. sanctions against Russia.  Paul Manafort, right?  Wrong!  It was Tony Podesta, the brother of Hillary’s John Podesta, whose hacked emails started the whole collusion mess.”  Perhaps, as Reverend Wright once predicted, “the chickens are coming home to roost!”  Perhaps the special counsel investigation that James Comey says he engineered, that Hillary cheered, and that Democrats and their media lapdogs hoped would lead to Trump’s impeachment, actually will arrive at the truth; Democrats gave Trump the collusion name, but it is they who played the collusion game.  Don’t hold your breath.

The phony left-wing A-holes who populate Hollywood like to pretend that they are on the cutting edge of a progressive society that ensures that the rights of every kook fringe group on the face of the Earth are fully respected.  They respect the rights of minorities, the LGBTQ crowd, grape pickers, the homeless.  They even demand rights for groups who have no legal rights, like illegal aliens, even when those aliens come here and commit crimes.  In Hollywood, there’s a ribbon for the rights of every group, except it seems, for the women who work in the movie industry.  For more than 20 years, Harvey Weinstein rode high on the hog in Hollywood (an apt allusion, as he is about as porcine a creature as they come).  He was a Hollywood producer in the mold of the movie moguls of the 1930’s.  Translation – Harvey wielded the power of life or death over an actor’s career, so he could be physically repulsive, personally offensive, and generally abusive towards all who sought an audience with the King.  Weinstein was so powerful that he even got away with physical assaults on reporters, who he later blamed for being “aggressive.”  Harvey’s predations included the sexual harassment of,  and some have alleged, sexual assaults on actresses who were caught in his web, and thus under his power.  In short, Weinstein was immune from the proper behavior expected of a normal human being residing outside of that enlightened, progressive, and highly evolved enclave in Southern California.  He was immune, that is, until this month, when a veritable who’s who of Hollywood actresses accused Weinstein of sexual misconduct spanning decades.  The allegations resulted in Weinstein’s being fired from his own company, and caused him to hire a phallanx of high-priced legal talent, which he may need, because police agencies on at least three continents are considering prosecutions.  Harvey’s explanation was that “I came of age in the ’60s and ’70s, when all the rules about behavior and workplaces were different.”  Harvey’s growing as a human being though, he claims that it recently has come to his attention that sexual assaults are frowned upon these days, even in Hollywood.  What a crock!  Think about it, here is one of the foremost leaders of a group of liberal crackpots who consider themselves to be all-knowing, always right, much smarter than the mere bumpkins in fly-over country (that’s us folks), and always, always so so better informed than us mere mortals, that they should be the final authority on every subject.  And these superior beings, whose hearts bleed for every worthy cause, somehow missed the bulletin that the boss is not supposed to sexually assault the help.  Give me a break.  Those of us in the unenlightened part of America got that message some time ago.  After the deluge of accusations, some denizens of Hollywood admitted what the rest of us already knew, that it was common knowledge that Harvey Weinstein was an obnoxious, abusive prick, who molested scores of women at every opportunity.  That took some courage, huh?  The media, true to form, reported the Weinstein accusations as though the fact that sexual misconduct was going on in Hollywood was a revelation.  It’s not a revelation, its an institution.  Lurid stories about the infamous “casting couch” are as old as the film industry itself.  A 1920 article in Photoplay magazine reported on “immorality in camera-land,” where “young women are not advanced in their chosen profession unless they submit to the advances of studio managers, directors, or influential male stars.”  And it wasn’t only Hollywood.  Dancer Agnes de Mille said of the Broadway Schubert brothers, “If you didn’t sleep with them you didn’t get the part,” “The Shuberts ran a brothel: Let them sue me.”  Tippi Hedren wrote that director Alfred Hitchcock sexually molested her.  Marilyn Monroe experienced the Weinsteins of her day, calling Hollywood “an overcrowded brothel, a merry-go-round with beds for horses.”  Male actors weren’t spared either.  Hollywood agent Henry Willson reportedly preyed on gay actors such as Rock Hudson.  Roddy McDowall said Willson was “like the slime that oozed out from under a rock you did not want to turn over.”  Weinteinesque behavior in Hollywood was no secret.  Hollywood even acknowledged it in their own pictures.  Remember producer Jack Woltz, in The Godfather?  People were complaining about Harvey Weinstein long before this year, but no one was listening, because Weinstein was powerful and influential.  Weinstein was your ticket to an Academy Award, and too many actresses were willing to pay the price of admission.  So why now?  Why has the mighty Weinstein fallen in 2017?  Some suggest that its just a sign of the times.  If Bill Cosby got caught, Harvey’s fall was inevitable.  I’m not buying that theory.  If Harvey Weinstein was at the peak of his power, Hollywood wannabes would continue to take whatever perverted crap he dished out.  A more plausible explanation was offered by Rebecca Traister of New York magazine.  She reported seeing Weinstein at a Planned Parenthood fundraiser (yes, Harvey was a big supporter of women’s rights), “he seemed small and frail, and, he appeared to be walking with a cane.  He has also lost power in the movie industry, is no longer the titan of independent film, the indie mogul who could make or break an actor’s Oscar chances.”  That description tells the tale.  No longer the King of the jungle, Harvey Weinstein  succumbed to the law of the jungle, where the old and slow become fodder for the younger swifter predators.  But make no mistake, Hollywood hasn’t changed.  As long as there are young women dreaming of stardom, Hollywood will remain the perverted cesspool is has always been.  In her memoir, Marilyn Monroe graphically summed it up, “I met them all.  Phoniness and failure were all over them.  Some were vicious and crooked.  But they were as near to the movies as you could get.  So you sat with them, listening to their lies and schemes.”  Personally, I hope the accusations keep flying out there on the left coast.  Better that the Hollywood A-holes should send money to their lawyers, than to socialist politicians.

Maybe I’m dating myself, but I sure miss the good old days when there were two sides to every story, and when different opinions could be expressed, and even debated.  When I was growing up political commentators in newspapers and on TV weren’t all conservative or all liberal.  There were people such as Art Buchwald, Jack Anderson and Anthony Lewis.  These commentators, despite their personal beliefs, at least tried to call them as they saw them.  They dished it out to both sides when they thought it was deserved.  They may have been Democrats, but they surely didn’t spare Lyndon Johnson from their barbs.  Even JFK felt the criticism, “I’m reading more, but enjoying it less.”  In short they didn’t set out to destroy those they disagreed with.  I mean, Anthony Lewis was about as left-wing as they come, and to my knowledge, he never supported the use of violence.  The media in those days was tough, but there were limits, and there were standards.  Not anymore.  Today, what passes for journalism exists in places like the Huffington Post.  They have a commentator named Jesse Benn.  Jesse Benn is a Trump-hater who endorsed violent resistance against Donald Trump in June 2016, when Donald Trump was only the presidential presumptive nominee for the GOP.  Trump hadn’t even been nominated yet, much less elected, much less done anything to threaten the left-wing crazies.  This is the same A-hole who justified the shooting of a Republican lawmaker, as preferable to Republican policies.  According to Mr. Benn,  resistance is acceptable because there’s an inherent value in forestalling Trump’s normalization. Violent resistance accomplishes this.  You get that?  It has been decided at the highest (lowest?) levels of leftist insanity that Trump is the one who’s abnormal.  He must be, because liberals are normal, and he doesn’t agree with them.  Delusions of rectitude. (I’ve written about this before).   Benn has now transferred his mania to the NFL protest business.  According to Benn, white athletes who don’t kneel for the national anthem are defending white supremacy.  He explained, “See, for white athletes the anthem and American flag do represent freedom, liberty and whatever other amorphous American values one might ascribe these symbols.  So, from their view, kneeling would be disrespectful to the privileges a white supremacist nation affords them.”  Freedom and liberty are amorphous American values?  Liberals keep saying Trump doesn’t uphold American values, so what are they?  Welfare, open borders and lawlessness?   Vile rodent Benn ( sorry, but he really does resemble a white rat) continued,

“In the fairytale we Americans tell ourselves where soldiers fight wars for freedom and not imperial conquests …” “If white athletes can’t fathom kneeling because they feel soldiers fought for their rights and blah blah blah patriotism, it’s because they are treated as full citizens and afforded those rights they imagine soldiers fought for.”  It is a sickness.  Anyhow, if he’s right, where’s our Empire?  And black athletes aren’t full citizens?  Really?.  Remember, these are the same players who, in London, knealt for our Anthem and stood for God Save the Queen.  You want to talk about an Empire that, by law, made people second-class citizens?  So bend your knee, or else.  Genuflect to prove you worship what? Anarchy?    It gets worse, Janaya Khan, who is the co-founder of Black Lives Matter-Toronto, is now urging allies of the movement to “stop saying ‘white privilege’ and start saying ‘white supremacy.  According to her,  if you’re white,”it doesn’t matter if you hate and abhor the KKK and neo-Nazis.  By virtue of your skin color, you are guilty.”  I love a fair trial, don’t you?  At least Mr. Benn and his fellow mental patients aren’t advocating killing off all white men to solve the problem of white supremacy.  Don’t scoff, somebody is.  College Professor (what else?) Noel Ignatiev, reportedly received a standing ovation recently when he told his class that white males are a cancer and they should kill themselves.

“If you are a white male, you don’t deserve to live.  You are a cancer, you’re a disease, white males have never contributed anything positive to the world! They only murder, exploit and oppress non-whites!  At least a white woman can have sex with a black man and make a brown baby but what can a white male do?  He’s good for nothing. Slavery, genocides against aboriginal peoples and massive land confiscation, the inquisition, the holocaust, white males are all to blame!  You maintain your white male privilege only by oppressing, discriminating against and enslaving others,”   See, this is what we’re paying $60,000 a year to have our kids taught.  Ignatiev added, “The goal of destroying the white race is simply so desirable, it boggles the mind trying to understand how anyone could possibly object to it.”  You can’t argue with logic, I mean, who could object to genocide?  If Ignatiev’s “final solution” to white supremacy sounds a little like something Adolph Hitler might say, you’re right. In Mein Kampf Hitler wrote,“All who are not of a good race are chaff,”  He said that the elimination of Jews “must necessarily be a bloody process.”  Compare Ignatiev’s statement, “Eventually, I would like to put white males in concentration camps and work them to death just like they’ve done to everyone else.  When they are all dead we can throw a party and dance around their corpses.”  Ignatiev even adopted Nazi terminology.  He runs a website called “Race Traitor,” a term right out of the Third Reich.  In what perverted world can Noel Ignatiev be considered an educator, and what legitimate educational institution would hire him?  Professor Ignatiev considers himself a neo-abolitionist.  If you happen to be a white male, he wants to abolish you.  But, hey Noel, you’re a white male (I guess).  Why not get the ball rolling and abolish yourself?

The continual assault on American culture bubbled up this week with the annual attacks on Columbus Day.  Celebrated as the discoverer of the New World when I went to school, Christopher Columbus has become just another way to denounce America.  Columbus is now viewed as a villain because our educational system has been hijacked by Leftists.  Former Communist Party member Howard Zinn’s book,  A People’s History of the United States, has become the foundational text in many of our nation’s schools.   The book adopts the Marxist perspective that history is the story of an ongoing struggle between the ruling class and the oppressed.  Zinn paints the history of America as a story of exploitation, and vilifies most of our historical leaders as motivated by self-interest, greed, and a deceitful compulsion to oppress the masses.  Zinn blames Columbus for the “violent beginnings of an intricate system of technology, business, politics, and culture that would dominate the world for the next five centuries.” The chief complaint about Columbus from Zinn and his fellow travelers is that he aided the spread of capitalism.  Zinn didn’t just make this up, he got it from his teachers, Marx and Engels.  In The Communist Manifesto, Karl Marx denounced Columbus as the godfather of modern capitalism.  According to Engels, Columbus’s westward journeys unleashed the era of “big commerce,” the world market, and the birth of the bourgeoisie.” “The discovery of America was connected with the advent of machinery,” he wrote in 1847, “and with that the struggle became necessary which we are conducting today, the struggle of the propertyless against the property owners.”  Columbus did all that?  He thought he was going to Japan, never got there, and never truly understood where he was.  No matter.  Today’s reigning Marxist terrorists, the black-hooded bastards of Antifa, have taken up the cudgel against Columbus.  Since August, Antifa A-holes have smashed, decapitated, or defaced numerous Columbus statues in Baltimore, San Jose, and New York,  denouncing Columbus for leading “the initial invasion of European capitalism into the Western Hemisphere” and claiming that he  initiated a wave of “capitalist exploitation of labor in the Americas.”  Sound familiar?  Antifa has declared October 9 a nationwide Deface Columbus Day.  Columbus really can’t catch a break, because its not just the Marxists who hate him.  Funny thing is that, although the Left decries Columbus as a symbol of white supremacy, he’s also been bashed by the KKK because he was a swarthy non-Protestant, like all the filthy immigrants the KKK hates.  Some protesters don’t even know why they’re protesting Columbus, or at least haven’t thought it through.  In New Jersey, there’s outrage over a Columbus statue in an Hispanic area of Long Branch.  Think about that.  “Hispanics” are people with a historical connection to Spain or Spanish culture, like the Spaniards who accompanied Columbus to the New World.  So the outraged Long Branch “Hispanics” are protesting themselves.   I’d like to believe that our public officials know better, but no such luck.  More than 30 U.S. towns and cities have voted to change the name of Columbus Day to Indigenous People’s Day, and five states (Alaska, Hawaii, Oregon, South Dakota, and Vermont) no longer recognize Columbus Day as a holiday.  Los Angeles County Supervisor Hilda Solis is a typical voice, “While we cannot change the past, we can realize the pain that millions suffered throughout our nation’s history, as well as the tremendous achievements of the original inhabitants of our continent.” Our nation’s history? Columbus sailed for Spain.  Indigenous peoples?  Original inhabitants?  To whom is Hilda referring?  By all accounts, the Indians of North and South America came over a land bridge in the Bering Straight from Siberia, starting about 16,000 years ago.  Finally, evidence of Russian collusion in America, somebody call Bob Mueller.  The claim is that Columbus enslaved and murdered many indigenous people.  Actually, Columbus took no slaves.  He sailed to find gold and to convert the natives to Christianity.  The sudden arrival of previously unknown European diseases like smallpox in the New World surely sparked epidemics that led to many deaths, but consider two things: first, 15th Century Europeans knew no more about germ theory than did the Indians; and secondly, the Indians got back at the Europeans by spreading syphilis to them.  According to Scientific American, syphilis was unknown in Europe until 1495, after Columbus got back to Spain.   But shouldn’t we celebrate the tremendous achievements of the original inhabitants of our continent?  Name two.  I’m certainly not suggesting that there were no Spanish atrocities in the New World, because there surely were.  However, the Indians Columbus encountered were not the noble peace-loving beings of recent repute. The Arawaks were indigenous to Hispaniola in 1492.  Columbus was surprised to find that Arawak men spoke the Arawak language, while Arawak women spoke the language of the Carib Indian tribe.  Turns out the Caribs were in the habit of attacking and killing the Arawak men, eating their bodies, and then raping the Arawak women.  Murder, rape and cannibalism.  Are those some of the tremendous achievements we need to celebrate?  Maybe Hilda Solis can explain.  But progress can’t be stopped.  Christopher Scalia, a spokesman for the Christopher Columbus Association, had it right when he noted that “progressivism has become the haunting fear that someone, somewhere may be celebrating America.”  So let’s not stop at removing or destroying statues of Columbus.  What about the name?  At least 54 American towns are named for Columbus.  They all should be changed to Indiana.  The District of Colombia?  No way.  Columbia is the goddess of Liberty, and we can’t encourage that.  How about the District of Caribia?  Instead of the Land of the Free, we can be the Land of the murdering, raping cannibal Indians.  Columbus Circle?  Nah.  Indigenous Circle.  That’s progress for America.  And hey wait a minute, what about “America?”  It was named for Amerigo Vespucci, an Italian explorer who sailed for the equally repugnant, white supremecist, swarthy Portuguese.  Clearly we cannot continue calling our land America.  Columbus ruined everything, so let’s go back to pre-Columbian times.  I suggest we rename America what the map makers called it before Columbus, Terra Incognita, the Unknown Land.  That’s perfect, because what has become of the America I grew up in is totally unrecognizable.  Everybody sing, so long Columbus, hello Marx!

We woke up Monday morning to the news that a maniac in Las Vegas killed 59 people and wounded more than 500 others by firing a variety of weapons, at latest report, perhaps 12 semi-automatic rifles that he configured to fire at rates approaching those of automatic weapons from the window of his room on the 32d floor of a hotel, into a crowd of some 22,000 people attending a country music concert.  The massacre immediately raised the suspicion of an Islamic terrorist attack, but at this writing, the motive for this madness remains to be seen.  The killer was not your average, run of the mill Whack-a Do.  By that I mean, not the type of detached, down on his luck, loner normally associated with such attacks.  By all accounts, this guy owned four homes and two airplanes.  He was reputed to be a multi-millionaire, in the habit of gambling 10’s of thousands of dollars a day, and sometimes staying in casino hotels for weeks at a time.  The killer’s status as a casino high-roller gave him access to the suite overlooking the concert area that he used for the attack.  That status also explains how a single man was able to tote 10 different heavy suitcases, reportedly containing 23 firearms, and the ammunition for these weapons, into the hotel without anybody voicing the suspicion that something might be amiss.  Entering a casino with one gun is prohibited, but if you’re in the habit of regularly spending big money in the casino, you could roll in steamer trunks containing a fully equipped petting zoo and a team of Korean midgets, and, as long as you didn’t soil the carpets, no one from the hotel would dare complain.  Money indeed does talk.  As this is written on October 4, the Las Vegas Sheriff is speculating whether the killer somehow became “radicalized.”  His girlfriend, conveniently in the Philippines at the time of the attack, is now back, and hopefully can shed some light on his motivation.  After the attack, ISIS took credit for it, calling the killer a “soldier” recently converted to Islam.  I guess anything is possible, but frankly, that seems a bit farfetched.  Somehow, the notion that a guy who apparently enjoyed spending so much time in the gambling, drinking and debauchery capital of the world would suddenly embrace fundamentalist Islam to the point that he chose to immediately martyr himself doesn’t wash.  Whatever he was, he was a soulless bastard, but you’ll note the title of this work is plural, because the echos of the gunshots barely had faded when the equally soulless bastards of politics and the media got into the act.  Not willing to waste a good tragedy, at a time for grieving, with the investigation incomplete, there were immediate calls for more gun control laws.  Somebody even woke up Hillary Clinton, but she must not have  been fully awake, because she tried to tie the Las Vegas shootings to the Republicans’ failure to ban what she called “silencers.”  No matter that sound suppressors had nothing to do with this tragedy, no matter that “silencers” aren’t silent, no matter that the use of one might have given away the shooter’s position sooner by filling the room with even more smoke.  No.  When a nut runs amok, you blame the Republicans, it’s what you do.  Hillary should wipe the oatmeal off her chin and go back to sleep.  I’m sick and tired of Democrats like Hillary spouting that Republican support for the Second Amendment is just a “dog whistle” to their ignorant hillbilly supporters.  Not for nothing, but if Hillary is hearing sounds only a dog can hear … I won’t go there.  It got so bad that the day after the shootings, CBS had to fire (reluctantly, I’m sure) one if its high ranking lawyers, who tweeted that she was “not even sympathetic” to the shooting victims because “country music fans often are Republican gun toters.”  Think that statement was outrageous?  CNN’s Jeff Zeleny said on air, “A lot of these country music supporters are likely Trump supporters.”  He didn’t explain if that meant they deserved to be shot, or if he was just thinking of voter demographics for the mid-term elections.  A number of Congressional Democrats used the tragedy as an opportunity to bash Republicans.  Noting that Republican leaders asked Americans to donate blood in the wake of the shooting, Nancy Pelosi said she wants Republicans “to give some political blood.  They think their Association and Gun Owners of America.”  Many Democrats called for action on “commonsense gun control measures.”  The problem is they can’t decide what these measures are.  The federal and State statutes are replete with gun control laws, none of which would stopped this nut, or any other nut from doing what he did, because criminals, if I have to say this again, by definition, do not obey the law.  Democratic Representative John Lewis of Georgia said prayers were not enough, asking “how many more dead bodies will it take to wake up this Congress?”  I understand Mr. Lewis’ zeal to do “something.”  Maybe he should do something about the 700 bodies of murder victims on the streets of Chicago every year.  Someone is shot in Chicago every 2 hours, 2,412 so far this year.  Lewis represents Atlanta, where the violent crime rate is even higher than Chicago’s.  But Democrats don’t talk about those kinds of killings.  I understand the desire to do “something.”  Reports are the Las Vegas shooter used a now legal accessory known as a “bump stock” to make his weapons fire faster.  Unless someone can explain to me why firing over 600 rounds a minute is necessary, then outlawing such items might be the “something” to do.  It won’t end mass shootings, nothing a legislature does will do that, but it might help the politicians protect their phony-baloney jobs for one more term, because that’s what it’s all about.
