Andrew Wilkow is a radio talk show host who’s featured on the Sirius/XM Patriot Channel.  For a number of years, he’s been warning his listeners that the Left is planning to change local zoning laws to eliminate single-family housing, in favor of large apartment complexes.  This plan is designed to continue to eat away at our personal freedoms in order to advance several goals of the Left.  First, they believe that single-family home ownership is unfair and racist.  If I have a single-family home and you don’t, where’s the equity?  And it’s racist, well, because they say anything they don’t like is racist.  In addition, this is part of the idiotic climate change agenda.  Apparently, having people crushed together in giant apartment buildings is better for the environment than single-family homes, and packing them in makes it easier to take away our personal vehicles, in favor of mass transit.  Overriding local zoning regulations isn’t a new concept.  Il Duce Obama starting talking about it when he was in the White House.  Local zoning laws were bad because some vile localities actually impose limits on building and minimum lot size requirements.  And since deserving welfare recipients, most minorities, and those they like to call “working people” can’t afford homes on two acre lots, it was unfair, and OK, sing along with me …  racist.  This argument was bullshit back then, just as it’s bullshit now.  I know this because, although I’m a “working person,” although my income is in the top 10% nationally, and although I’ve been saving money for 50 years, I can’t afford a home on a two acre lot in New Jersey.  No matter.  The bottom line is that, unless you’re a wild-eyed Marxist, the plan to end local zoning makes no sense.  The problem is that the Democrat Party has been taken over by wild-eyed Marxists.  Yet that fact aside, until recently even I was a bit skeptical of Wilkow’s constant warnings about zoning.  Then I heard about New York City’s new plan to “fundamentally transform” its zoning laws.  They call it, “The City of Yes.”  That euphemistic title requires some explanation.  Politicians resort to euphemism when they’re about to do something much of the electorate doesn’t want.  That’s the case here.  It was explained by Mayor Eric Adams, no less. and there is no less.  According to Adams, this new plan is designed to reverse what’s known as the NIMBY (not in my back yard) problem.  Not surprisingly, people who’ve invested their hard-earned money in homes in safe, quiet areas, don’t want things like, prisons, homeless shelters, and massive housing projects in their neighborhoods.  That’s the “City of No.”  Adams, and the Marxist New York City Council, are changing that into the “City of Yes.” How?  By calling their freedom grab “the City of Yes,” and by imposing their will by sheer force, the public be damned.  The City claims, “the sweeping changes are an example of the city self-removing some obstacles to better align with the momentum generated by new major climate-driven initiatives.”  Where did I put my hip boots?  Here are some of the details.  Homeowners will be allowed to add accessory dwelling units (ADUs) such as backyard cottages up to 800 square feet, or garage conversions.  The city says ADU’s would help seniors “age in place” and give younger generations a chance to save on rent by living at home, but separately.  Great huh?  Stick grandpa in the garage.  What about all those assisted living and over 55 communities?  Ready made illegal alien housing.  Plus, you’ll never get rid of your kids.  And nothing says “Third World country” better than lean-tos in every yard.  The City also will legalize previously illegal conversions, such as basement apartments.  But there’s more.  The plan wants to prioritize placing new housing developments near public transit – specifically 3-to-5 story apartment buildings on large lots near train stations.  The city says “this will reduce car reliance, traffic congestion and carbon emissions while also supporting the MTA with increased ridership.” (As well as supplying more victims for the muggers on the subways – its a win win).  And where will they get the large lots on which to build the 5 story apartment buildings?  No problem!  Another part of the plan eliminates  parking mandates for off-street parking for new housing.  “Builders will still have the option to include parking in new developments, but would be less inclined to.” (Less inclined Hell, if the developer can put up the building without using space for parking he makes more money).  But what about the existing parking lots not near mass transit?  I’m glad you asked.  8,500 acres of parking lots will be used to build solar panels, to power more than 130,000 homes.  They think of everything, don’t they?  Adams didn’t say how the remaining 3,170,000 households will be powered when they end fossil fuels.  But if they can just figure out how to make the sun shine long enough from November to April, they have the problem licked.  And even if they can’t, living so close together, New Yorkers will be able to huddle for warmth.  And, don’t worry, Mayor Adams hasn’t forgotten about the electric cars Joe Biden says we all have to drive.  The plan more than doubles the space for vehicle charging facilities, adding an additional 400 million square feet.  As this is written, it’s 11 degrees in Chicago and many of that City’s electric vehicle charging stations have been rendered inoperable by extreme cold temperatures.  A number of Teslas are being pushed through the streets.  That’s good exercise though.  Maybe it’s Joe Biden’s version of the presidential physical fitness plan.  At the end of the day, the City of Yes plan is just the latest Leftist plan to steal individual freedom.  Remember that its goal is “removing obstacles” to advance their fever dream climate change agenda.  Because to the Left, your God given rights are just that – obstacles to their insatiable power grab.  First they canceled law enforcement.  Now they’re cancelling zoning.  And step by step, life becomes poorer, meaner, harder, more expensive, and less comfortable for all those who work hard and follow the rules.  Make no mistake, the City of Yes nonsense is coming for all of us.  New York and other big cities are just getting there first.  Here in New Jersey, developers are building multi-unit apartments and condos rather than single-family homes.  The mostly deserted Monmouth Mall in Eatontown is being partially torn down so Kushner can build 1,000 apartments in the space.  Rumor has it that the same thing is in store for the once-bustling Livingston Mall.  Wilkow was right.  A  government that can forcibly change behavior can control the people.  So, when Democrats tell you “democracy is on the ballot,” believe it.

You may have noticed that I don’t have much good to say about Biden and his woebegone Administration.  That being said, I have tried to avoid such rhetoric as comparing the stupid bastards to Nazis or accusing them of treason.  Until now.  Treason is the only crime defined by our Constitution.  Article III, section 3 provides that, “Treason against the United States, shall consist only in levying War against them, or in adhering to their Enemies, giving them Aid and Comfort.”  What the Biden Administration is doing on our borders, borders on treason against the United States.  President Trump left Biden secure borders, with illegal border crossings under control.  The Biden Administration erased the borders, and threw our country open to millions of illegal aliens.  Forget all the nonsense about how things might be different if Old Joe or Kamala would just visit the border to view the problem first hand.  What’s going on on the border isn’t due to a lack of information.  It’s not an oversight.  It’s no mistake.  Admitting an overwhelming swarm of illegals is the official policy of Biden and the Democrats.  Democrats are fond of saying that the immigration system is broken.  They know what they’re talking about, because they’re the ones who broke it.  Before Biden, we were admitting more than one million legal immigrants every year.  Nobody opposed this, nor would there have been opposition to expanding the number of legal immigrants, provided that were were admitting useful, functional people who were liable to prove themselves assets to our nation.  That’s how America was built, and how it became the envy of the world.  But Biden and the Democrats have no use for legality, and apparently little use for educated, productive immigrants who are able to support themselves.  Leftists like to remind us of the Emma Lazarus poem, The New Colossus, “Give me your tired, your poor, your huddled masses yearning to breathe free.”  But they have neglected to note that “the wretched refuse of your teeming shore” who came here in the late 19th and early 20th Centuries didn’t come expecting a handout.  They weren’t met at the border by officials bearing gifts, and free transportation to their destinations of choice.  If they couldn’t support themselves, they weren’t admitted.  And, if they suffered from even minor medical problems, they were shipped back from whence the came.  The “broken” system that Democrats like to complain about still includes provisions regarding exclusion of those who would become charges on the State (welfare cases), the diseased, criminals, potential terrorists, or anyone who has been a member of or affiliated with the Communist or any other totalitarian party.  This is the “system” that Congress enacted.  It wasn’t broken until Biden arrived.  And simply put, even if the system was broken, the President has a constitutional duty to “take care that the laws be faithfully executed.” By flaunting, ignoring, and otherwise violating the immigration laws, Biden is in breach of his oath of office and subject to impeachment.  But treason?  Just consider the facts. In Biden’s first year in office, he let more than 1.9 million illegals into the U.S.  That was a record; a record that he promptly broke.  In 2022, 2.7 million.  In 2023, 3.2 million.  2024 figures to be even worse.  Add to that nearly 2 million of what they like to call “known gotaways,” and you’ve got more than 10 million newly arrived, needy illegal aliens, and keep in mind, this is only the number the lying government admits to.  That number is more than the populations of 40 of our States.  This recent throng of wretched refuse comes from every corner of the world, including the usual suspects from Central and South America, Russia, China, the Mideast, Romania, Korea, India, Turkey and Cuba.  Among those who came into contact with immigration authorities have been  169 individuals whose names appear on the terrorist watchlist.  Two of them were Yemeni men who were on the terrorist watch list and the no-fly list.  In 2023 alone, there were 35,433 aliens with criminal convictions or outstanding warrants, including 598 known gang members, 178 of those being murderous Salvadoran MS-13 members.  We already have Blue States where Democrats refuse to protect Americans from home-grown criminals.  Why is Biden importing more of them?  And what are more than 10 million illegals being admitted for, if not to replace American citizens with a needy underclass, designed to do the bidding of their Woke benefactors?  That is nothing less than the planned overthrow of the republican form of government guaranteed by the Constitution, and the functional equivalent of war on our States.  Add to this the hundreds of thousands of illegals excludable by law as criminals, mentally or physically ill, or potential terrorist threats, and that is a war on the United States.  Plus, hundreds of thousands from Russia, China, Cuba, Venezuela, and so on, all of whom are former adherents to Communist or totalitarian Parties, and tell me how Biden isn’t giving aid and comfort to our enemies?  The notion that these millions are just poor migrants seeking political asylum is a bold-faced lie. Many never apply for asylum, and those who do are given court dates 6 years in the future.  Of those, only a fraction actually show up in court, and since we don’t know who or where they are, they can’t be compelled to appear.  It’s all part of the plan to keep them here until we can be told, “they’ve been here so long, we can’t deport them.”  It’s become so bad that even Blue State elected officials are beginning to complain.  Biden expects the States and cities to feed, house, educate, cloth, and provide medical treatment to these millions of invaders, without federal help.  New York, already going broke from post-Wuhan virus departures of residents and in-person employees, is now spending billions of dollars on illegals, who are living in $400 a night hotels, driving unregistered motor vehicles, and jamming schools.  The other day, New York sent Madison High School students home to house hundreds of “migrants” it had stupidly placed in a flood zone as 4 inches of rain came down.  What Biden has wrought is disgraceful, illegal, dangerous, divisive, and downright idiotic.  Whoever is really running the government is bent on a scheme to collapse our system under the weight of millions of illegals, and replace it with what?  The very same kind of Communist or totalitarian dictatorship that many of these people are fleeing.  The border mess really does border on treason.  The media, by and large, is content to let the country collapse.  We can stop this in November if you wake up your friends and neighbors and tell them the truth.

Return with me now to the 2020 election campaign, where one Donald John Trump daily ridiculed the Democrat Green Energy nuts with vignettes such as, “Darling, turn on the TV.”  “Sorry dear, you can’t watch TV today because the wind isn’t blowing.”  We laughed back then.  Trump may have lost the election, but as it turns out, he was proven right once again.  We saw a glimpse in February 2021, when frozen wind turbines in Texas of all places, stopped working, thereby contributing to widespread blackouts.  After that episode, so-called environmentalists were forced to choose between their Save the Whales mania and their Carbon Footprint psychoses, as the prevalence of offshore wind turbines appear to be causing the deaths of scores of whales all along the Eastern seaboard.  These obvious problems did nothing to stem the Biden Administration’s mindless push to destroy the oil and gas industry in favor of “the transition to renewable energy.'”  Despite the fact that wind turbines can’t replace so-called fossil fuels, and may do more harm than good, they are a large part of Biden’s renewable energy agenda.  Presumably this is because building these monstrosities requires multi-billion dollar government subsidies, along with the obligatory sweetheart contracts and graft attendant to all governmental boondoggles.  The truth is, we don’t have to build our own large-scale wind farms to prove they don’t work, because Germany has already shown us the proof.  For ten years, Germany has been pursuing its Energiewende policy.  Wind power was supposed to replace German dependence on imported Russian oil.  It didn’t work.  Germany still relies on Russian oil to meet 78% of its energy needs.  And wind power can’t replace the more than 6,000 products that are made from petroleum, including drugs and chemicals.  Petroleum is needed to manufacture the wind turbines themselves.  Some 70% of the components that go into the electric vehicles Green Whackos think we’re all going to drive are made from oil.  Without oil, your electric car has no tires, and for that matter, no road to drive on.  But we were talking about wind, right?  Biden and his henchmen have been touting wind power projects as proof of the success of Bidenomics.  The Administration hailed proposals for new wind turbine projects off the coast of New York called Empire Wind and Ocean Wind, which were supposed to produce enough energy to power 700,000 homes, but the companies building these projects just cancelled them.  The companies cited negative economic conditions, but just as easily could have said they just won’t work.  In Biden La-La Land, renewable wind power will do away with the need for oil and gas electricity generating plants.  Dream on Joe.  Let’s forget about the whole country for a moment, and consider just New York City.  If the proposed wind projects had been built they would have powered only 20% of the 3.6 million households in New York.  And the renewable energy dreamers really haven’t done the math, on little details such as, where to put all these turbines and how much land is needed to support them.  If we really could build these monsters, each turbine requires 1.5 acres of land.  For a farm of 150 turbines, you need 225 acres of ground.  How about enough to power New York City?  5700 acres, which is more than 40% of the land area of Manhattan.  You may not have noticed, but there is precious little undeveloped land around New York.  Can’t we build them in rural areas?  Unfortunately, no.  The transmission lines would have to be too long to make them efficient.  Oh, and by the way, if the object is to protect nature from the nasty fossil fuels, wind farms aren’t the answer, because they won’t work in wooded areas where trees create wind barriers.  Building turbines will require clearing all the trees, which is likely to dislodge the tree-huggers.  So just build them in the ocean, then.  Well, the problem there, apart from the dead whales, is that salt reduces the efficiency of the turbines up to 30%, and they’re more costly to build and maintain than land-based turbines.  The sad fact is that wind power, as  a way to move away from oil, is at best a fantasy, and at worst simply a new way to steal government money.  The turbines contain 8,000 parts, so what could go wrong?  Plus, you can’t transition away from oil, by building things that require massive amounts of petroleum to produce.  Manufacturing the steel requires oil.  Moving the components to the construction sites requires diesel powered trucks, cranes, and other heavy equipment.  There are no electric alternatives to these vehicles.  Construction of one foundation requires 750 cubic yards of concrete, that’s 60 diesel powered truck loads, and one way or another, you’ll wind up paying the Mob a premium for each truckload.  And you need oil to make the concrete, it can’t be made electrically.  Even if you manage to build these turbines, each one requires 80 gallons of lubricating oil a year.  There aren’t enough rare Earth metals available to make the batteries for electric cars, never mind the components of wind turbines, and mining for them destroys the environment we’re supposedly saving.  But say, we manage to build all the 300 foot tall towers we need.  Well, there are still several problems, most importantly the fact that, as Donald Trump noted, the wind doesn’t blow all the time.  Due to this immutable law of nature, you need some kind of battery to store enough power to keep the lights and heat on.  Right now there’s only one technology that can store enough power to last one windless day – Sodium-Sulfur batteries.   Except, each one weighs 450 million tons, takes up 923 square miles, and needs to be replaced every 15 years.  If the wind stops for more than 24 hours, I guess we put all the migrants on bicycle generators and yell, “Arriba! Arriba! Andale!”  And as it turns out, even high winds defeat the wind farm system.  The turbines operate best with a steady 20 MPH wind.  If the wind gusts to 55 MPH, you have to shut down the turbines or they’ll be damaged.  And of course, as Texas learned, cold temperatures lead to icing, and deicing requires using oil-powered helicopters.  So, against this backdrop, my suggestion is, the next time some environmental whacko tells you that wind will replace oil, tell him to blow it out his ass.

Well believe it or not, 2023 is coming to an end in a couple of days.  I don’t know where the year went, but now that it’s over, I thought we should assess some of the vital statistics that might reveal the state of our nation.  On a national level, we’re confronted with the Biden effect, which has devastated everything it’s touched.  Let’s look at the economy.  Corrupt Demented Imbecile Joe Biden, who as this is written is ensconced in the luxury estate of yet another billionaire toady on St. Croix, far from the pressures that life in the U.S. places on the little people, continues to insist that “All is well,” and the economy is great.  He even tried to use the catch-phrase “Bidenomics” to show what a great job he’s done.  The problem is, as with most things Biden, it was all lies, and even the compliant media now consider the word “Bidenomics” a joke.  And given the fast-approaching municipal debt crises left over from the Wuhan plague and the ever-growing housing bubble, which must burst some time soon, Bidenomics may soon become the 21st Century version of Hoovervilles.  All truly is not well in the economy.  No matter what number the Dow Jones Average reaches, people are hurting, and there’s just one man to blame – Joe Biden.  He insisted on spending money we don’t have, to boost federal spending beyond the highly inflated Wuhan virus spending years.  The deficit this year is $1.7 trillion.  The national debt was $27 trillion when Joe was elected.  It’s now $32 trillion.  Joe’s borrowing money from the Chinese to make up the difference.  This wasteful spending was absolutely unnecessary, as Biden appeared on the scene after the Wuhan plague was over, making the 2021 American Rescue Plan spending unnecessary and the 2022 Inflation Reduction Act spending as useless as the Act itself, which even Democrats now admit did nothing to curb inflation.  On the contrary, the profligate spending was the cause of the record inflation that has cost American families $700 more a month, just to pay the bills.  Inflation, less than 2% under Trump, ballooned to 9%.  In 2023, we’re told the rate is down to 4.5%, but that’s the rate of increase.  The $2 container of oatmeal is still $5.  The prices of everything are up, and they’re not coming down.  But it’s all in a good cause.  By robbing you, Joe Biden was able to give more than $100 billion to Ukraine.  Your pension may be gone, but your money is funding pensions for deserving Ukrainian bureaucrats.  Joe also needs the money to fund his illegal Student Loan bribe, eh, forgiveness program.  Fear not, though.  The Federal Reserve is on the job fighting the inflation Biden caused.  They raised interest rates 11 times in 2023.  Mortgages went from 3% to 8%.  This burdened the already overheated housing market.  Prices were sky high before the rates went up.  Now there’s little housing inventory available because people can’t afford to replace a house with a 3% mortgage with one at 8%.  Millions of people may be unable to move, but they have the comfort of knowing that even living in their old house may become unaffordable.  Biden Administration regulations are trying to outlaw gas stoves, ranges, boilers and water heaters.  Climate change you know.  Gas appliances emit CO2, and we can’t have that.  Biden says we must replace the appliances, and all our cars, trucks and buses, with electric, which is cleaner, because they will be powered by “renewable energy.”  Now, nobody has explained where this miraculous energy source is coming from, and it really doesn’t exist, but that’s not Joe’s problem.  Heating costs in New York are expected to double from what already are among the highest in the nation.  Your government at work.  The jobs picture for 2024 is equally unsettled.  It depends on who you ask.  Harry Truman once said, “If you placed all the economists end to end, they would point on all directions.”  He was right.  Forbes expects more hiring in 2024.  The Federal Reserve, which crippled us with high interest rates, unsurprisingly predicts that their actions will stem inflation and cause hiring to slow.  Take your pick.  But enough about money, how about population trends?  According to the Census Bureau, the U.S. population increased by 1.6 million in 2023.  Of course, that number doesn’t count the more than 10 million invaders who Joe Biden has let in since he took office.  And 10 million is what they admit to.  It’s much more than that.  Illegal border crossings in Texas topped 14,000 in one day just last week, and a massive caravan of deserving “migrants” is marching through Mexico as I speak, headed for the border.  Fear not.  Biden says the border is secure, and that’s good enough for me.  On the local level, the FBI tells us that, according to their figures, crime is down.  Someone once said figures don’t lie, but liars figure.  Anyone who’s been to any city knows crime isn’t down.  Arrests are down, because police have been handcuffed.  Prosecutions are down because enforcing the law has become unfashionable.  Fear and insecurity are up, and respect for the government is down.  Closer to home, New York City is in an uproar, experiencing budget cuts, which Mayor Adams blames on the 135,000 “migrants” who have come to NY in response to his invitation, as the Mayor of a Sanctuary City.  Adams says he must cut at least 5% from every department, and cancel planned Police Academy classes needed to replenish the dwindling Police Department.  The migrants aren’t the whole reason for the cuts.  Post-Wuhan, workers have not returned to NY 5 days a week.  Commercial real estate is in crisis.  Tax revenue is down from rents, and from loss of business.  No workers in the office, means no workers to patronize restaurants and shops.  The City is dying, but it’s fighting back.  How?  It’s passed a congestion pricing plan, that would charge a $15 a day tax on any car traveling below 60th Street in Manhattan.  They claim it will raise $1 billion to bail out mass transit losses of $2.5 billion.  Ridership is down due to remote work and the fact that some 40% of riders don’t pay the fare.  The City Counsel decriminalized turnstile jumping.  No crime, no arrest, no prosecution, no fare revenue, and soon, no city.  Adams wants Biden to just give him more money.  Biden declined, and instead has the FBI investigating Adams.  That’ll teach him to complain.  In short, the numbers of 2023 reveal that we are on the brink of a series of looming disasters, any one of which could be devastating.  Threat of global war, burning cities, a housing bubble about to burst, a potential economic crash, millions of hungry illegal alien invaders, lingering inflation, and a brain-dead government intent on making simple existence even more expensive.  Add to all this an upcoming election that’s bound to tear the country apart, and look out, here comes 2024.  Hold onto your hats.

Somehow, 2023 is coming to an end, and the festive holiday season is once again at our throats.  It’s a time for celebration, and reflection.  Unfortunately, what we  have to reflect on is the disgrace and obscenity which is the Biden Administration.  If all the Democrats wanted was to rid themselves of Donald Trump, they got their wish.  A president who really wanted to do what Corrupt Demented Imbecile Joe Biden told us he wanted to do, namely, return to a normal, orderly government, without the painful Tweets and other emanations  (a/k/a truths) being uttered by Donald Trump, Biden would have left the perfectly functioning programs alone, and taken credit for everything Trump built.  If you’ve forgotten, what Trump gave us was, no inflation, higher wages, lower taxes, a secure border, energy independence, no trouble from Russia, China, Iran, or North Korea, a revitalized military, a stronger NATO alliance, greatly improved trade agreements, and fewer regulations.  Biden reversed all Trump initiatives, which has left us begging Venezuela and Saudi Arabia for oil, with record high interest rates, runaway inflation, 10 million illegal immigrant invaders, the threat of global war, an impotent military, and crippling, freedom stealing regulations, designed to end oil production, take away your gas stove and dryer, and balloon energy prices; the stated goal being “equity,” which I guess means all Americans will be equally miserable, cold, and destitute.  But enough of reality.  It’s Christmas, so let’s celebrate the joy which is the Biden White House.
