Frank on Friday – Ted Cruz – A Choice, Not an Echo

The 2016 presidential campaign got under way this week with Texas Senator Ted Cruz formally entering the race.  For a nation thirsting for leadership, his announcement came not a moment too soon.  Senator Cruz asked us to imagine a President who will honor the Constitution.  His references to the Constitution were met immediately by a storm of criticism and ridicule from both Democrats, in and out of the media, and the Republican establishment.  The reason is obvious.  Ted Cruz is a threat to the status quo.   The Democrats and the Republican leadership equally serve that status quo, which has given us an $18 trillion debt, a stagnant economy, 50 million people on food stamps, undefended borders, and a world on the brink of war; a world in which America gives aid and comfort to terrorists, sells out Israel and looks to France for leadership.  France?  We truly are living in a world gone mad when an elected official’s pledge of allegiance to the Constitution, the supreme law of the land, is dismissed as the raving of an extremist.

I commend to all of you the words of that proud Texan who solemnly declared, “My faith in the Constitution is whole, it is complete, it is total, and I am not going to sit here and be an idle spectator to the diminution – the subversion – the destruction of the Constitution.”  No, those words were not spoken by Ted Cruz this week, but by Texas Democratic Congresswoman Barbara Jordan, in 1974.  Ms. Jordan’s words bring to mind several pertinent questions.

If Barbara Jordan was hailed as a savior of our system of government, then how can Ted Cruz be condemned as its destroyer?  If Barbara Jordan correctly identified faithful adherence to the Constitution as the only safeguard against a lawless President in 1974, then how can Ted Cruz’s faith in the Constitution be a joke in 2015?  Simply put, if Barbara Jordan was right, then how can Ted Cruz be wrong?

The answer is, Ted Cruz is not wrong.  What has gone terribly wrong since 1974 is that the leadership in both Parties have forgotten that they serve the People, not the lobbyists, and not themselves.  Ted Cruz threatens the comfort of a corrupt political system.  Therefore, the “experts” tell us he can’t win.  The same experts said the same thing about Ronald Reagan.  They were wrong then, and they are wrong now.  Pollster Frank Luntz found that the 2012 political ad that rated highest among both Republicans and Democrats came from a man who looked into the camera and said, “the politicians in Washington better start listening to the People.”  That man was Ted Cruz.  Oh, one more thing, when asked if he would support Ted Cruz should he get the nomination, New York Republican Peter King replied, “I’ll jump off that bridge when we come to it.”  Don’t wait Pete, jump!

Frank on Friday – And the Winner Is … Bibi

William Congreve is credited with the saying, “Hell hath no fury like a woman scorned.”  Good thing he never met Barrack Obama.  A woman scorned is no match for a petty, shallow, arrogant President scorned.  First, Obama claimed that the Congress invited Prime Minister Netanyahu to speak without giving him notice.  That really wasn’t true, but since when does the truth matter in America.  Then, after Netanyahu spoke, Obama said that Bibi was interfering in his plans for a deal with Iran.  And what a deal!  For some reason (Hussein?), Obama seeks to hand the craziest, most rabid, uncontrollable terrorists on the face of the Earth a nuclear bomb.  That ought to help the Mideast peace process.  And while we’re on the subject, am I the only one who has noticed that we only hear the term “peace process” after terrorists have bombed and killed a bunch of innocent people?  Anyhow, Prime Minister Netanyahu, for some reason, takes exception to Muslim crazies in his neck of the woods having a weapon which could erase his nation in one attack.  You just can’t please some people.  Netanyahu then compounded his insult to Il Duce Obama by actually winning re-election, and this, despite the fact that Il Duce sent his political operatives to Israel, illegally funded by U.S. grant money to try to depose the elected leader of a nation that is supposed to be our ally.  America certainly is slipping, time was we only tried to get rid of our enemies, and even then we had standards, we just killed them.  It’s hard to get good help nowadays.  In any event, it wasn’t a bad week.  Bibi won.  Obama lost, and he’s mad as Hell.  Il Duce, you’re a loser.  Get used to it.

Frank on Friday – Death is Inevitable, Hillary … Not So Much

The constant media drumbeat keeps trying to convince us that Hillary Clinton is will inevitably be our next president.  My take is that, while death is inevitable, Hillary is not, for several reasons.  First and foremost, it should not be forgotten that the same media told us that Hillary was inevitable in 2008; until a better story came along.  The media views the presidency much like the “flavor of the month.”  The first female president was a good story, but the first black president, even better.  Some time ago, a 72 year old man was elected to his first term in the House from Massachusetts.  When asked why he decided to run for Congress at 72 he explained, “It was my turn.”  Hillary is so fond of entitlements that she views the presidency as one more thing she is owed.  It doesn’t work that way.  Secondly, the inconvenient truth is that Hillary simply is not Bill.  Richard Nixon used to say that some politicians are poets, and others are word processors.  That distinction applies here.  Bill was smooth.  He could whisper sweet seductive phrases in your ear.  On the other hand, Hillary is more like the recorded message at the airport warning you not to park in the red zone.  Shrieking is not seduction, and even when Hillary tries to keep it light, she grates.  And, while we are at the airport, let’s not forget the famous Clinton “baggage.”  Even putting Bill’s bimbos aside, by leaving the Senate to become Secretary of State, Hillary created for herself a dismal record.  First Benghazi, now the email flap.  Who knows what’s next?  Finally, Hillary has a ponderous albatross around her neck – Barrack Obama.  The Obama record stinks.  Hillary has two choices; continue the Obama policies, and be dragged down by them; or separate herself from Obama and face his wrath.  Never forget that Obama is arrogant and vain enough to sabotage Hillary to preserve what he considers his legacy.  Hillary is inevitable?  I think not.

Frank on Friday – Party Uber Alles

In a famous speech he made shortly before his death, General Douglas McArthur told the West Point  Corps of cadets that his last conscious thought would be of the Corps, and the Corps, and the Corps.  In that vein, it has become increasingly obvious that, for elected members of today’s Democrat Party, their sole thought, and their sole purpose is to advance the agenda of what has become a radical left-wing Party, bent on the creation of an iron-fisted, totalitarian utopia.  For today’s Democrats, it is the Party, and the Party, and the Party.  For a long time, I attributed this, in large part, to the Obama cult of personality.  As such, I expected that, when Obama achieved lame duck status, i.e., right now,  elected Democrats would separate from Obama and moderate, in expectation of the next election, with no Obama on the ballot.  I was wrong.  The Democrat crusade to enhance the power of the State and to abridge individual liberty shows no sign of stopping.  They lost the House in 2010, and they lost the Senate in 2014, but the Democrats have not stopped.  Their radical left-wing agenda is more important to the Democrats than any other issue.  We’re $18 trillion in debt, but don’t curtail spending.  Millions of college educated Americans can’t find jobs, but don’t try to stop us from throwing the borders open to millions of illegals.  Half the country is freezing this winter, and it might be a good idea to limit the power of Middle East oil producers, but they just voted against the Keystone Pipeline.  Nothing is so important that it won’t be sacrificed to advance the Democrat agenda; even the State of Israel.  Il Duce Obama opposes Prime Minister Netanyahu, and has his minions in Israel working to defeat him there.  Obama has chosen to back Iranian murderers over our perennial ally, and the Democrats fell right in line.  It didn’t used to be that way.  Once upon a time, there were moderate, and even conservative Democrats.  In 1964, LBJ wanted a tax cut.  He had overwhelming Democrat majorities in Congress.  Yet Senate Finance Committee Chairman Harry Byrd, a Democrat, would not allow the bill to be voted on until his President proved that the federal government would actually cut spending.  Byrd put the Country over his Party.  Today, no Democrat, or Republican for that matter, would take such a stand.  It is high time that the only thoughts of all of our elected representatives should be of the Country, and the Country, and the Country.

Frank on Friday – And the Oscar Goes To … An Imbecile

On Sunday night, Patricia Arquette was handed an Academy Award for her work in some movie that has been seen by surprisingly few people.  Instead of a simple “thank you,” we were treated to an angry demand for pay equality for women.  My reaction was, “what an imbecile!”   Of course, the audience of  similarly afflicted Hollywood imbeciles immediately erupted, cheering her on.  No surprise there.                   Have you ever noticed that liberals are always in favor of fixing problems that don’t really exist?   “We need to spend more on a social safety net for the poor!”  Perhaps a good cause in 1930, but today, we have the largest welfare state on the face of the Earth.   We’re $18 trillion in debt.  50 million people are on food stamps.  We spent trillions on the War on Poverty.  We’re importing more poor people to be cast into the social safety net.  And we’re told poverty is getting worse.  Good job on that one.                             “Save the whales!”  I don’t know anybody with a grudge against whales, or any other mammal.  “Save the Earth!”  Really?  Please.  “Stop Global Warming!”  As I write this, I have a space heater under my desk to keep my feet from getting numb.  Give it up.   And so it is with pay equality for women.  Though fully aware that liberals are immune to the facts, the fact is that the U.S. Labor Department, part of the same government liberals love so dearly, has reported that, in the past 30 years, women are better educated and better paid than ever before.  The statistic you always hear – women make 72% of what men make, comes from a comparison of the total amounts earned by men and women, without regard for the number of hours worked.  Many women work part-time because they are caring for their children and their households.  The Hollywood imbeciles must be forgiven for not making this connection, as there is an endless supply of illegal alien au pair workers in California.  In truth, if women as a group invested the time necessary to care for their families, and still were called upon to work long enough to earn as much as men as a group, that would be a real inequality.

Oh, by the way, yesterday, Il Duce Obama had the FCC take over the internet.  I will keep speaking my mind until they come and get me.
