So it’s 2015 and we are confronted with what we are told is another Clinton scandal. Really? No. It’s not another scandal, it’s what prosecutor’s would call a pattern of racketeering activity. The Clintons are not so much a family as a racketeering enterprise. A family? Well, the Gambinos were called a family, so I guess it’s about the same thing. Using your position to obtain money no one would give you but for your position is what would commonly be considered a bribe. Did Hillary break the law by soliciting money from foreighn governments for her “foundation” while she was Secretary of State. Did her husband, Slick Willie, break the law by accepting hundreds of thousands of dollars from foreign governments and companies for speaking engagements in an effort to influence Hillary? At the end of the day, who cares? What we should be concerned about is the smell test. In legal terms, is there an appearance of impropriety? Case closed. There is an unmistakeable stench of impropriety. Look up impropriety in the dictionary, and you see side by side pictures of Bill and Hillary. It’s not another scandal. It’s the continuation of the same scandal that took Bill Clinton from the $32,000 a year Governor of Arkansas to to the multi-millionaire he became. My advice is, let’s cut the cord on the Clintons, on the Bushes, on all the powers that be with whom we have been dealing for years. Let’s make a clean break and give somebody new a chance.
April 22 will mark the 45th anniversary of the first Earth Day event, held in Philadelphia on April 22, 1970. If you do a computer search for Earth Day you will get the usual mindless liberal pablum about how millions of people all over the world celebrate this “holiday.” Here are what Al Gore might call the inconvenient truths about Earth Day.
The first Earth Day was largely the creation of two men; Ira Einhorn and Paul Erlich. They were “environmentalists,” which then, as now, meant people who blame mankind in general for despoiling the planet, and capitalism in particular for permitting evil humans to do such a thing. Like all good Marxists, they believed that all would be well as soon as the government dictated what industry could produce, where people could work, what they could eat, and how much the rich nations should give to the poor ones. Sound familiar?
Let’s get to the personalities. Ira Einhorn was an associate of Abbie Hoffman and Jerry Rubin. A true humanitarian, in 1977 he bludgeoned his girlfriend, Holly Maddux, to death, stuffed her body in a trunk in his apartment, and forgot about her, until her remains were found 2 years later. Einhorn hired lawyer Arlen Specter. Specter got Einhorn a $40,000 bail, Einhorn posted 10%, and skipped off to Sweden. He was discovered living in France in 1997, returned, and is now serving life in prison.
Well, anybody can make a mistake. How about Paul Erlich? Erlich was a Professor at Stanford University. In 1968, he wrote a book, The Population Bomb, which predicted that by the 1980’s world population would outstrip the ability of our economic system to produce more food (damn capitalists) and up to 200 million people would starve to death. He might have been wrong there. The world’s population has doubled since 1968 without the predicted mass starvation. Well, anybody can make a mistake.
The other speakers at the first Earth Day made a few mistakes too. Harvard biologist George Wald predicted that civilization would end within 30 years. North Texas State University Professor Peter Gunter predicted world-wide famine from 1975 to 2000. Ecologist Kenneth Watt predicted that nitrogen buildup in the atmosphere would filter out all light, making all farm land unusable. Huh? It might be pretty dark in Jersey, but the sun does come out on occasion. Watt wasn’t done, though. He also predicted that by 2000 there would be no crude oil left on the Earth. As I write this in 2015, a major problem we are having is the lack of additional storage tanks and tankers for the excess crude oil we are not using. Well, anybody can make a mistake.
People learn from their mistakes, right? Not this crowd. In 2014, Paul Erlich predicted that people will soon turn to cannibalism due to food shortages. If they do, I hope they eat him first. You want fries with him?
It is true that anybody can make a mistake, and celebrating Earth Day is the worst mistake that anybody can make.
In 2008 America was tired of George W. Bush and Republicans in general. Bush fatigue and the conjunction of an economic crisis with the election made the election of a Democrat almost a foregone conclusion. (Running against John McCain also helped). The media was ready to get behind Hillary Clinton because the first female president was a good story. Then Barack Obama appeared, and the media abandoned Hillary for an even better story – the first black president. It was historic, it was unprecedented, it was a chance to do away with the the specter of racism, enter a new age and elect a president who would unite all Americans. Right. It didn’t work out that way.
The media was willing to overlook the fact that Obama was a man who had never held a real job. He went to law school, sure. After that, he was given a fellowship by the University of Chicago Law School because he told the Dean he was writing a book about voting rights. The University let Obama teach as part of the deal. Great. I have a nephew who is a student-teacher, and that’s great, but he shouldn’t be president. Obama later told the Dean he’d decided to write an auto-biography instead. It was all about Obama even then.
The media overlooked the fact that Obama’s parents were Communists, and he was mentored by Frank Marshall Davis, a Communist. If a Republican had any relative who was in the Klan, you think we’d hear about it. Yup.
The media overlooked the fact that Obama was singularly unqualified to be president, and that he never took a stand on any issue. Hope and Change. We still don’t know what that meant.
The media overlooked the fact that Obama’s signature “achievement,” the Affordable Care Act, denies care and is not affordable. When Obama lied about being able to keep your plan and keep your doctor and it will cost less, the media overlooked that too.
When the ambassador and three others were killed in Benghazi, Obama and company lied from the get go, followed by stone-walling and obfuscation. The media didn’t object.
Obama ignores Congress, spits on the Constitution, and assumes powers which a president simply does not have. No complaints from the media. The media is content to let Obama arbitrarily cancel constitutional rights. It’s a shame they haven’t figured out yet that their First Amendment rights come from the same document Obama sees as an obstacle to his complete control.
Support for Israel had always been a must for Democrats. Not for Obama though. He has abandoned Israel, insulted Netanyahu, and now is “negotiating” an agreement with Iran which will ensure that Iranian whackos get nuclear weapons. He announced the “framework” of a deal, a deal which he has no intention of submitting to the Senate. Immediately, the Iranians announced that Obama was lying about the terms. So the question is, how much adulation of Obama is enough? Obama is an unqualified, dangerous, desperate failure. It is high time the media stops ignoring this fact.
You know you must be getting old when you start to have nostalgic longings for the good old days. I’m really not that old, and, in truth, those days really were not that good, but they sure beat Hell out of what we’re getting now. I used to work for the government, so I don’t expect much, but is it too much to ask to go back to the times when there were two sides to every issue? I know, politics has become polarized, but that’s really nothing new. In the 1930’s, FDR and the Democrats had overwhelming majorities in Congress, but it was understood that there could be different opinions. The Republicans were “the loyal opposition,” and, from time to time, even Democrats disagreed with their President. Democrats who opposed FDR may not have been invited to dinner, but they weren’t indicted either. And it’s not just politics. A wise man (Bob Grant) once said, “there’s nothing less liberal than a liberal.” He was so right. Today we no longer permit two sides to any issue. Global warming? We are told it is “settled science.” Anybody who dares to doubt must be a nut. What about the 30,000 scientists who signed a petition saying they are not convinced? Doesn’t matter what the scientists think, Al Gore said it’s settled. Case closed. Gay marriage? A few years ago we were told gay folks didn’t want marriage, just civil unions. Fine. Then one morning, that changed. I don’t know how, I don’t know why, but one morning, we woke up and you either favor gay marriage (now called marriage equality) or you are a bigot and a homophobe. Now personally, it makes little difference to me, and I think that divorce lawyers should have equal opportunity to screw straight and gay clients alike. What if you have a religious objection to gay marriage? Sorry. Religion is not approved by today’s culture. You don’t count. What about the First Amendment to the Constitution? Why do you think the Founders put religious freedom first? Did you just say Constitution and Founders? Aha! That proves you are an extremist. So, yes, I long for the good old days when the liberals, the self same liberals who today are dictating our thoughts and opinions, were telling us to “question authority.” If we’ve reached the point where authority is beyond question, God help us. Wait, did you just say God? Aha!
FRANK ON FRIDAY – Job Opportunities for the Mayans
The Mayan civilization dominated much of southern Mexico and Central America for over 3,000 years before too close contact with the Spanish Conquistadors led to their disappearance in the 17th Century. In present-day America, where shovel-ready jobs are hard to find, there may be work for any Mayans that might be left. Specifically, I speak of Baltimore. You see, the Mayan religion viewed blood as a powerful offering to the gods, so they engaged in human sacrifice. What’s this have to do with Baltimore? Well, the Left practices an odd religion which worships both a powerful central Government (if controlled by Democrats) and individual license to the point of the breakdown of social order. The simultaneous worship of both iron-fisted control and anarchy is schizophrenic you say? Don’t blame me. I’m not a psychiatrist and cannot explain how extreme Leftists can believe anything they believe. This Leftist religious fervor was on full display this week in the streets of Baltimore. A man died in police custody under suspicious circumstances. Does that warrant a thorough investigation. You bet. Does it justify government encouraged destruction of property, looting, arson and aggravated assault on numerous police officers? If you ask me, no, but I do not pretend to understand what the Mayor of Baltimore was thinking. Left wing religious fervor is powerful. How else can you explain a mob that simultaneously demands justice while committing multiple felonies? That’s where the Mayans come in. You see, today, Baltimore announced it was indicting police officers for murder. Could the cops be wrong? Sure. A man dies in the back of a van with another prisoner. Could some charge be based on negligence or recklessness? Sure. But murder? How they hope to prove an intent to kill the man is yet to be determined. And sadly, I don’t think it matters to the Left. The mob screamed for blood and a sacrifice was necessary to appease them. And it’s not just an unthinking mob that feels appeasement is warranted. Just before I started writing this, I heard Geraldo Rivera, who is supposed to be a lawyer, say “it’s a small inconvenience for the cops, but it was necessary to prevent more violence in Baltimore tonight.” I hope he remains so tolerant when they come for him. So, any Mayan high priests out there, there’s an opening for someone with human sacrifice experience in Baltimore. No need to bring your own knife, you can get one from any of the people marching by.
