Thirty years ago, Hollywood produced a movie entitled Independence Day.  You may remember it.  Will Smith, Randy Quaid, Jeff Goldlbum, and others.  The theme was that the country was going along just fine, but one day, an alien invader appeared, bent on conquering the world.  I especially enjoyed the part where the invaders blew up the Capitol building.

The movie aliens appeared to be all powerful.  It turned out that our military had captured an alien ship years before and had been searching for a means of defeating them.  The beleaugered Earthlings used every weapon at their command to stop the invaders, up to and including nuclear weapons, but the invaders just seemed to get stronger.  In the end, it turned out the invaders couldn’t be attacked head on.  The only way to defeat the threat was to introduce a computer virus that permitted the invaders to be defeated from within.

It occurred to me that the loony Leftists are in the process of remaking Independence Day.  For these crazy bastards, Trump and MAGA are the invading aliens bent on conquering the world.  Like the characters in the movie, the Left has been searching for a way to defeat the aliens for years, about eleven years, to be precise.

They tried every method of head-on attack they could use.  They spied on the aliens, and broke myriad laws to prevent the aliens from taking over.  They prosecuted them.  They impeached them.  They libeled them.  They tried to pretend the aliens didn’t exist by removing them from ballots.  They tried to bankrupt the aliens.  They tried to imprison the aliens.  Then they twice tried to kill the alien leader.  But they failed.  The alien invaders were too strong to be defeated in a direct attack, and they just grew stronger.  So now they are trying to defeat the aliens by injecting a virus to poison them from within.

The internal virus being utilized by the Left now is called the resistance, or more precisely the illusion that there exists a righteous resistance to an extremist threat being posed by the Trump Administration.  Ground Zero for this operation is Minnesota.

The Trump Administration is in the process of enforcing the duly enacted immigration laws that are on the books, and have been on the books for decades.  These laws, codified in Title 8 of the United States Code, are laws that were enacted by Congress, and in most cases, Congresses that were controlled by Democrat majorities.

These laws prescribe who may be lawfully admitted to the United States, who may be or must be deported if they have entered the country, and the manner in which such actions are to be undertaken.  These laws are not, or at least should not be controversial.

One does not have to look hard or long to uncover dozens of statements by prominent Democrats about the need to protect or borders from illegal aliens in general, and from illegal aliens who were convicted of serious crimes before they came to our country, or have committed crimes once they arrived on our shores in particular.

The list of these prominent Democrats includes Il Duce Barack Obama, Hillary Clinton, Chuck Schumer, and none other than Corrupt Demented Imbecile Joe Biden himself.  All of the above, in the recent past, are on record as supporting such things as building a border wall to keep illegals out.  They all talked about it, and voted to do just that.

The Left’s zeal to rid America of the alien threat of Trump and his MAGA movement from 2015 to 2025 changed all that.  Biden and the Democrats, with the aid and comfort of a number of RINO Republicans, were content to ignore, flaunt, and outright violate the duly enacted laws of the United States if that was the only way to remove the threat of the evil, alien Orange Man and his supporters.

From 2021 to January 2025, Biden and company admitted more than 10 million new illegal aliens to our country to inundate or system of government, and to tip the balance of power their way in perpetuity.  They did this without any rhyme or reason, without any semblance of vetting, and with complete disregard for the consequences.

The true fact is that Trump and MAGA aren’t threats to “our democracy,” as they so love to repeat, but to the continuance of their control over a corrupt system, that permitted them to tap into trillions of dollars that they simply printed, adding to an already unsustainable national debt.

You see, the Left and the conservatives have two diametrically opposed views of the social safety net that made America they envy of the world, and the preferred haven for the world’s immigrants.  Simply put, Republicans view the safety net as a trampoline, which cradles the needy before catapulting them up and out to self reliance.  Democrats view it as a hammock, in which millions can be nestled in perpetuity.  It wasn’t always this way.

Laws, necessary laws, supported by members of the former Democrat Party, such as the requirement that no immigrant was to come here if he or she would be a public charge, were ignored, because the Democrats knew that, the more people who could be made dependent on our social welfare programs, the more money could be spent on their support.  This money, then is funneled to supposedly well meaning government agencies, and then to NGO’s, non-governmental organizations like Catholic Charities, to be spent on the needy.  Only much of the money goes not to the needy, but instead is funneled back to the Democrat Party in the guise of campaign contributions.

Along the way, billions of dollars were siphoned off by fraudsters.  In Minnesota, more than $10 billion in outright theft has been uncovered. It goes without saying that the scope of the theft in places like California, New York, and elsewhere will dwarf this number.

Much of the Minnesota graft came into the hands of Somali immigrants.  The Trump Administration understandably is trying to prosecute the criminals and recoop some of the money.  The Administration surged ICE officials and other law enforcement people into Minnesota.  Financial investigations are underway, and ICE has arrested and is arresting thousands of criminal illegal aliens in that State.

With the future of the Democrat money spigot at risk of being shut off for good, the impetus to expel the the Trump/MAGA alien invasion threat was ratcheted up.  The Democrat response – insurrection.  The so-called sanctuary States now are not only declining to help ICE, but are affirmatively obstructing the operations of the federal government by means of violence.

The Insurrection Act is a U.S. federal law authorizes the president of the United States to deploy “such part of the land or naval force of the United States” that the president deems necessary, including using the military and State militias, to suppress an insurrection or to enable the local enforcement of federal or state laws.  An insurrection is an organized and usually violent act of revolt or rebellion against an established government or governing authority of a nation-state or other political entity by a group of its citizens or subjects.  By any measure, that’s what’s going on in Minnesota and elsewhere.  For example, the Attorney General of Arizona this week said citizens might be justified in shooting ICE officers who wear masks, under the State’s Stand Your Ground law.  So, uniformed officers come out of a truck emblazoned with “ICE,” they wear badges and have “ICE” on their chests and backs, but you can shoot them because you didn’t know they were cops?  If she’s the chief law enforcement officer in the State, God help Arizona.

For Democrats, it’s Insurrection Day, because that’s the only means at their disposal to stop Trump.  Invocation of the Insurrection Act would be justified, but it’s risky, because such a flexing of federal muscle is controversial.  And Democrats are fanning the flames using their favored methodology – lying.  They’re claiming that the use of the Insurrection Act is a prelude to Trump’s use of the military to cancel the mid-term elections.  That’s nonsense of course, but the Democrats will use any means to keep their snouts in the unlimited pig trough of federal funds.

If they can gain control of the House in November, they can cancel all Trump programs, and keep impeaching him until his term runs out.  It’s a dangerous game they’re playing with the U.S. government, but they don’t care and it may work.  What they’re doing is shameful and unAmerican.  They have chosen the welfare of criminal illegal aliens, including murderers and child molesters, over the welfare of the people and the Constitution they have sworn to protect.  We’re in big trouble, and if Americans can’t be made to see the truth between now and November, I shudder to think of the consequences.
